I love LABC, been going for decades, however since it’s been taken over by Hilton GVC (previously a Diamond Resort) it seems to have let things slide. The reception staff are amazing and always try and help, but I don’t think they clean as regularly as before, neither inside apartments or around the site. As a member there are extra events, we attended a cocktail making session… but it was Sangria… our expectations were of different cocktails. Last year we attended the cheese and wine, but we were served little bits in Ikea children’s plastic bowls and there was no cutlery, that we needed… so we didn’t go this year. Bird poop was rife around the site, there are many nests, which I suppose they can’t get rid of, but it was left on corridors piling up for days, that you couldn’t avoid and suitcases wheeling through it. Again, as members last year we got a complimentary toiletry pack, this year I couldn’t even get a shower cap. They’ve taken away all the tables and chairs from the pool bar, so just left high bar stools, but there was no atmosphere there and only one person serving, very half-heartedly, who kept disappearing for 20 minutes or so at a time (cigarette breaks). In years gone by the pool bar was where everyone congregated and chatted for happy hour, now there is none, no cocktail of the day, no chatting or relationship building… such a shame. The Suncare lady used to come around every few days as well, didn’t see anyone once. There was no welcome meeting by the pool as in previous years either. I’ve booked for next year as it’s so restful and like home from home, but if this was my main holiday I wouldn’t be impressed. The Indian / Italian fusion restaurant on site does great food / pizzas, has a pool table and serves beer in iced glasses… so that’s great, although it’s a bit uncomfortable knowing there are people living in very cramped conditions behind a fake partition wall in the restaurant. On the plus side the palm trees looked great and they were actively taking the dead leaves off while we were there.
I have to share this. We were on holiday and we were enjoying a drink outside the Azura Restaurant. What we witnessed was totally out of order. We listened to a member of staff who we found out later being the head chef of the restaurant being disciplined infront of everyone. We heard everything that was being said. It seems he was being bullied by 2 senior staff. We visited the restaurant almost every night and it seems despite this chef being passionate about his job he was being told none of the other chefs like him. He was sacked on the spot. This is terrible I really feel for him to be treated like this for everyone to hear. We have been back to the restaurant since and I do have to admit the food has gone down hill. Cold and to be honest tasteless. It seems the other chefs were jealous because they can't cook like the one they have sacked. I will not holiday again there. Will never go anywhere where the staff are treated in such a disgusting way. I wish the chef all the best and hope he finds a job somewhere. Any restaurant will be lucky to have him.
Have been coming to this resort for years and it doesn't disappoint. The accommodation is so clean and comfortable, great reception and ground maintenance staff. The cleaners and restaurants servers are also super helpful and friendly. Special mention to Bea in the pool bar, always happy to see us and look after us. She works super hard and is a credit to the resort.
This resort is so relaxing and peaceful. The pool area is a sun trap so you can soak up the rays. There is a pool bar which serves meals, snacks and drinks from 12 noon til 6pm. The on site restaurant is called Azura and serves breakfast from 9am til 12 including full English, lunch from 12 noon til 6pm and dinner from 6pm to 10.30pm. The restaurant has 4 entertainment nights per week. The apartments are well furnished and spacious. There is a well-stocked supermarket accessible just outside the resort which sells everything from garden furniture, clothing, beauty products, kids toys as well as good and drinks. There are plenty of other restaurants accessible either just outside the resort or a short walk away on the way to the beach. The reception staff all speak at least 2 languages which must include English and Spanish. They are happy to accommodate most requests including arranging transfers to the hotel and have a fixed rate agreement with the local taxis. Some of the entertainment offered includes Spanish lessons, daily bingo, weekly quizzes as well as a mini club for the kids during UK school holidays. We booked a day trip to Gibraltar which, whilst expensive, was brilliant and well worth the money. All customer facing staff speak at least English and Spanish with some staff knowing up to 4 languages. The housekeeping and grounds staff don't always speak English but are polite and friendly. When walking towards each other during the corridors they always stood aside to let guests through. It was the first time we stayed at this resort, despite that we are Diamond/Hilton members and we are looking forward to going back. BE WARNED. The nearest beach is a nudist beach and so isn't appropriate for children.
Lovely aparthotel. Our 2 bedroomed duplex apartment was very spacious with 2 balconies - 1 off living area and 1 off main bedroom. Cleanliness and facilities were excellent and staff were very helpful. A very well run facility and we hope to return next year.
